I’ve waited more than a year to see these words: “Your book has been published.”
As simple as these words are, they represent a journey filled with excitement, doubt, learning, patience, and perseverance.
Here’s the “Why” Behind the book UnSpiral: A Colouring and Activity Book for Overthinkers, Daydreamers and Brainstormers….like me:
A little over a year ago, I started creating this book for overthinkers like me, something I hoped would bring comfort, calm, and a small sense of peace to people who struggle with a busy mind. I know what it feels like to live with thoughts that do not always slow down.
But the truth is, UnSpiral has always been about much more than a book. It was created out of love for someone very close to my heart whose journey has shown me what resilience truly looks like.
Before he and his wife were married, he became an amputee in his teens. Before losing his leg, he loved riding his bike and then engineered a way to ride again. After they migrated, life continued to bring severe challenges, including multiple strokes, heart attacks, and most recently, quadruple bypass surgery.
Alongside him is his wife. With no nearby family support system, she carries an immense load. Because she is paid by the day, taking time off for unexpected medical needs means a day without income.
The KDP Learning Curve:
I could have outsourced this process, but I wanted to understand it myself. Navigating Amazon’s KDP publishing platform meant managing layouts, formatting, and a mountain of small details.
After nine revisions of thinking, “This has to be it”, the final notification came on June 25, 2026 at 6:27 AM
